Soil Testing
Soil testing is carried out by qualified geotechnical engineers/ engineering geologists using truck mounted mechanical or hand augers. On most sites three boreholes are taken to determine a good soil profile. If fill is encountered the extent and depth is fully investigated. The site testing is carried out in accordance with AS 1726, AS 1289, AS 2870-1996 and the Foundation and Footings Society (Vic) Inc recommendations on special
provisions for site investigations.
Disturbed samples are obtained and classified in accordance with AS 2870-1996 for residential developments. Full details of the observed subsurface conditions are recorded on a soils log and the soil test locations are recorded on a borehole site plan. Trees on the allotment and relevant trees on adjacent properties are shown on the site plan.
Wind Rating
Our engineers are trained to assess the conditions to allow classification of design wind speeds and wind loads for housing. The assessment is in accordance with As 4055-1992, "Wind loads for housing".
